A hit on Imran Khan was always on the cards. His remaining alive carried with it the threat that, with almost the whole population behind him, he may get back into power. And his return to power was a threat to those who engineered the sellout of Pakistan.
The only bright sparks in this drama of treachery against Pakistan lie in the fact that Imran has survived the attack; ostensibly the attackers were not part of any institution in uniform; and the attack did not take place in Islamabad as part of the last-ditch efforts to save this government by the thugs. Had the attack taken place in Islamabad, the capital would have run red with blood.
The present scenario could have been foreseen the very night millions of people came out all over Pakistan to protest the regime change operation, and the handing over of their fate into the hands of the thugs who had so mercilessly taken Pakistan to its doom over the course of thirty years of misuse of power, and theft without compunction or fear of accountability.
The next tragedy of this ham-fisted attempt to kill Imran Khan lies in the fact that because he has managed to survive, other attempts on his life HAVE to be made. There are too many heads in danger of being parted from too many torsos to pay for what they have done to Pakistan and its people. These heads HAVE to be saved. It does not matter if, in the process, a few thousand Pakistanis have to be sacrificed. They are so wretched anyhow, that they will not even be missed. Only such heads have worth as belong to those sitting on mountains of stolen wealth which belongs to you and me. These people are not to be parted from their wealth for fear that if this happens, they might die of heartbreak! They are the ones that need being saved, flown out, and ensconced in London from where to plan the final downfall of their country.
Had the final scene of the Long March been enacted in Islamabad amid the expected bloodshed, we would have seen another bout of Martial Law. That is why so late in the season, no one has even a hint of who the new Army Chief might be.
But all the carefully laid plans seem to have been screwed up by Rana Sanaullah’s disastrous choice of the marksman he used. This choice turned out to be as catastrophic as Nawaz Sharif’s picks of his Army Chiefs.
Because the mafioso have blundered so spectacularly, the next hit job should be given to Mariam, or whoever planned the hit in Kenya.
The Rana has a moustache to give him the required air of authority. But moustaches do little in a case like this beyond making a person stand out as a chief suspect. It is about time that merit began being counted for something in Pakistan. Mian Nawaz Sharif needs to immediately fire the person who chose the hitman for this job. He’d be better off consulting Zadari on this issue. After all, getting rid of both Murtaza Bhutto and Benazir was a pretty neat job. In the end it all boils to expertise and merit!
