There is a considerable body of opinion in the country, growing stronger all the time, that the Torkham attack by the Afghans on our post was instigated, among others by the Indians. The Indians, it is believed have a vested interest in Nawaz Sharif holding on to power. After all we have all heard an Indian bigwig come on their TV and quite unabashedly declare that India has a lot of ” investment” in our PM.

It should come as no surprise therefore if other borders of our country are also activated. Internally things in Pakistan are already being heated up as the recent happenings in Karachi quite clearly show. The break of momentum of the Rangers’ operation in Karachi has allowed the enemies of the state to regroup, instead of keeping them off balance.

This break in momentum has come because the Army did not think this operation through to its logical conclusion. The Army should have known that as they were moving this operation forward, very soon a nexus between the terrorists and mega corruption, which funds terrorism, will be discovered. And that the trail of mega corruption will lead all the way up to the most powerful politicians of the country–and horizontally it will move from Sindh to the Punjab.

It should have been appreciated before this operation was launched therefore, that after a certain stage, politicians on both sides of the divide will gang up and impede this operation because it would inevitably lead to them. This is precisely what is now happening. The Army was arrayed against the enemies of the state, and was winning the war against them, while the politicians and their facilitators in the police, bureaucracy, and the judiciary aligned themselves behind the enemies of the state and began actively to impede the Army operations against these enemies.

The Army seems not to have heard the adage that the ally of my enemy is my enemy i.e. in this case these leaders and their hitmen [the terrorists] are clearly the enemies of the state of Pakistan. Instead of keeping the momentum going, the Army seems to have got cold feet in the face of the bulwark of the constitution, despite the fact that this constitution is now giving cover to criminals masquerading as “democrats” and aiding and abetting them in bringing down the state itself.

If the Army has to save the state it has only two options now left:

  1. To knock on the doors of the supreme court, and present the evidence it has, which must now be in tons of documents, to show how the current political machine is impeding its war effort, and force the court to an “in-camera” session, to review this evidence.
  2. If the court refuses to do this, to do away with the government and such members of the judiciary who would rather see the state being subverted, than save it, and put a national government in place. This government should then grant the Army all legal immunities it needs to safeguard itself through ordinances. One of these ordinances should equate economic terrorism, with terrorist crimes in general, and try such cases in summary military courts. Decision time to save the state is now upon us, and all manner of pussy footing should be seen for what it really is–cowardice in the face of the enemy, and abandoning the state to the tender mercy of those who are bent upon raping it, and keeping the rape going without let or hindrance.

The Generals now have to make a very clear choice. They have to decide that there is nothing of superior value in Pakistan than the state itself, and act accordingly.

Of all the previous Military interventions, this is the only time such an intervention is clearly called for. Not intervening now will be tantamount to abetting in the ultimate destruction of Pakistan.
