That Arshad Malik was morally unfit to be judge is a compulsory conclusion for anyone watching Maryam Safdar’s airing of the first video.
That the judge was a victim of threats and blackmail, as well as the target of inducements, is also not too hard to conclude.
That in both cases the enforcer of the bald Godfather, the hirsute Mr Nasir Butt, was obviously the lead character, is also quite apparent.
From the cast of characters, it is very obvious that this had to be a conspiracy.
Going by the probability of Cui Bono i.e who gains? –there can be no doubt that both the Godfather and Maryam Safdar were central to this conspiracy.
The foregoing did not need exceptional analytical skills, to conclude. However, there are some additional questions that need being answered:
–Was it the purpose of the conspiracy to also bring the higher judiciary under pressure–specifically the Islamabad High Court with whom the appeal against bail in the relevant case lies pending, notwithstanding this court’s friendly disposition towards this gang?
–Are the random hints that more videos involving the higher judiciary will soon be aired, meant to keep the whole lot nervous and unsettled through the agency of a mass, but half- asserted blackmail?
–Do Maryam’s attempts to use this blackmail material as a tool to create civil unrest and destabilize the government, amount to sedition?
–If so, what is the legal culpability of the mutts flanking Maryam Safdar during her infamous press conference, in this attempt at sedition?
–Specifically, what role did Shahid Khaqan Abassi, as Prime Minister, play to get Arshad Malik posted as NAB judge?
–And finally why, as the issue of this video heated up, did Qamar Zaman Chaudhary, ex Chairman NAB hightail it to UK? What role did he play in getting Arshad Malik transferred to NAB? What instructions did he give to this judge regarding the conduct of this trail? Whoever is going to conduct the inquiry against this pathetic caricature of a judge, must make it a point to get him to speak on this issue. No single person has mutilated the cause of justice, and served the cause of crime, more forcefully and comprehensively than Chaudhary Qamar Zaman. If NAB has to function effectively, it cannot even seriously think of doing so unless this arch criminal is first brought to justice. And what should follow is that all the pro criminal dregs holed up in NAB, and there are many, be cleaned out.
PS. Justice Javed Iqbal [Chairman NAB] must make a list of all investigators and prosecutors who deliberately fouled up cases to give relief to criminals, and prepare references against them. A serious beginning should be made to clean house, before cleaning Pakistan is seriously attempted.
