This arrest has left me shaken. But I am not shaken enough not to remember that congratulations are in order for the high command, and for the exhibition of high intelligence on their part, which must have driven this action.

For a good decade now, Gen Amjad has spoken on his show on the TV. Among other topics which he has dilated upon was his almost constant elucidation of certain actions by the army in a manner which defended such actions without him losing his credibility in the process.

In short, he did not resort to covering up for the army, but constantly and consistently defended his parent institution by way of cogently explaining some of its actions.

He did this while remaining within the bounds, both of plausibility and of dignity. He was far more effective in this than the entire ISPR put together.

And last night he was served with just gratitude for his efforts. He was arrested.

It is said of death that the dead person does not even know he is dead. But his death merely causes pain to his loved ones who are still alive.

The same is the case with stupidity. The ones who are stupid are not aware of it, but they are a great embarrassment to their loved ones. And so, most of those who had the privilege of serving, are feeling hugely embarrassed today.

It was well said by someone that the great difference between genius and stupidity was that genius at least had its limits.

May God bless those in whose hands He has placed our fate, but while blessing them, may He protect the lot of us from them–Amen!
